DURHAM — Triangle residents who want to improve their odds of staying healthy this flu season can get a free flu shot at the Durham County Department of Public Health between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.
“As we’ve seen this week, it is not spring, and flu season is not over by any means,” said Eric Nickens, information manager for the department.
Anyone six months of age or older is eligible to receive the shot at the Immunization Clinic, 414 East Main St., in Durham. No appointment is necessary.
Nickens said some area doctor’s offices and pharmacies have reported running low on vaccine due to high demand.
“But we’ve got plenty of vaccine here, and have even requested more from the state for Saturday’s clinic,” he said.
Registration forms and the Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) are available on the public health department’s website, www.dconc.gov. They can be downloaded and filled out in advance to shorten wait times, Nickens said.
