Cabinet cash
In his inaugural address, Gov. Pat McCrory said “there’s no new money falling out of the sky.” Really? Then where’s he finding the money to raise the salaries of seven of his eight Cabinet secretaries by 8 percent?
Our schools and universities are underfunded, our roads and bridges are in serious disrepair, the poor, sick and underprivileged are being denied benefits, and we don’t have the money to dredge Oregon Inlet. So how is it that we have the money to increase the salaries of seven people who are theoretically involved in “public service”?
Interestingly enough, Democrat Walter Dalton, who lost to McCrory in November, refused a pay raise last summer. So, exactly who’s the fiscal conservative here?
