Area fishing report

Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

Offshore boats caught their limits of yellowfin tuna along with good amounts of bla ckfin tuna, dolphin and t ilefish. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Offshore boats are still docked in the area. Inshore boats brought in good amounts of se a mullet and puppy drum near Hatteras, and the point has been overrun with dogfish and speckled trout. Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Re d drum have been caught in large quantities in the sound. Scattered speckled trout also have been biting in the creeks. Contact: EJW Outdoors at 252-247-4725; ncwaterman.com; or ncoif.com.

Topsail Island

Speckled trout and red drum continue to bite in the creeks. Flounder are biting in the inlets. Offshore anglers can still find wahoo, but winds have kept most boats docked. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887, eastcoastsports.com.

Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach

In the surf, puppy drum and speckled trout are biting. In the Gulf Stream, wahoo and blackfin tuna are also biting when boats go out. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763, texstackle.com.

Southport/Sunset Beach

Surf anglers are finding success with trout and red drum. Offshore boats reported wahoo, but have mostly remained docked due to windy conditions . Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221; yeahrightcharters.com; or oifishingcenter.com.

Freshwater

Falls Lake

L argemouth bass are still biting on crankbaits and jerkbaits at medium depths. Crappie are biting minnows and jigs at medium depths. Catfish are still scarce, but are biting at shallow to medium depths. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 251.86, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085; wmi.org.

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass are biting on crankbaits and jigs at medium depths. Striped bass have been reported around medium depths on spoons and crankbaits. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 299.95, full pool 320. Contact: Bobcats Bait and Tackle 434-374-8381; kerrlake.com.

Shearon Harris Lake

Largemouth bass are still biting on spoons, but remain scattered. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255; wmi.org.
