Richard David "Big Dave" Townes

Mr. Richard David “Big Dave” Townes, age 61, 1335 Cloverdale St. Burlington, NC, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 6:20 a.m. after a brief illness at Hospice Home of Burlington.

He was a member of Lighthouse Chapel where he was an usher for numerous years worked with Copleland Mills for nine years and did self-employed work for O.T. Sports.

Survivors: wife, Gay Townes of the home; son, Martin Lee Townes, of VA; mother, Norma L. Mashburn of Raleigh; brother, Ralph Townes of Raleigh; sister, Jeannie Basley of Raleigh; stepson, Tommy Stewart and wife Tammy of Burlington; granddaughter, Marley Townes of VA; step grandson, Tommy Lee Stewart; and step granddaughter, Taylor Stewart.

Preceded in death by father, Richard S. Townes.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham.

Visitation: will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the Stepson, Tommy Stewart at 401 Chestnut St. Burlington, NC. Minister, Rev. D.L. Perry officiating.
