ARCHER LODGE — A Wendell man was killed after he crossed the center line coming into a curve on Covered Bridge Road and hit a box truck around noon Friday, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Daniel Mabe, 38, was driving a Ford Focus south toward Clayton when he struck the truck head on. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash. Trooper David Finch said Mabe was killed on impact.
A section of Covered Bridge Road was closed for two hours until the wreckage was cleared, according to the Archer Lodge Fire Department.
