Portland Timbers striker Kris Boyd had his contract terminated by mutual agreement, the club announced on Friday evening.

"We would like to thank Kris for his service to the club and we wish him well in his future endeavors," Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson said.

Before arriving in Portland, Boyd spent 10 seasons in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers and Kilmarnock, during which time he registered 196 goals in 296 league appearances.
