Questionable range
Regarding your Jan. 28 article “Shooting for the sport of it”: As a nearby property owner, I would like to comment on Drake Landing gun range.
As a gun owner, I want it to be clear that this is not a question of restricting anyone’s gun ownership rights. It is about the county allowing an unrestricted gun range to operate in close proximity to residential subdivisions.
Your reporting was somewhat misleading. The Wake County Board of Adjustment narrowly ruled that Drake Landing could operate under the vague concept of agro-tourism. This allowed the gun range to be built and to operate without going through the normal permitting process or restrictions.
How many more farms will become unrestricted gun ranges? How are my rights as a property owner being addressed? Lower property values, constant gun fire, unknown safety factors? The N&O could better serve its readers by reporting both sides of this issue.
