A new way

Your Feb. 1 editorial “Not adding up” was on the mark.

The taxpayers owe The N&O a note of thanks for its dogged pursuit of the truth regarding the ever-expanding scandals at UNC. The university’s self-serving investigations are fooling no one. Rather, they strengthen the perception that the university values athletics over integrity, academic excellence and all other attributes that are reputedly important to institutions of higher learning.

The Carolina Way has become the Carolina Spin Cycle: cheat, deny, delay, misrepresent and misdirect. Perhaps UNC should simply admit the truth and adopt the motto “Athletics uber alles.”
