Classy tribute

What a nice tribute to Dean Smith by Rob McLamb (“A prayer for Dean Smith,” Jan. 29).

That is one of the reasons N.C. State is my second favorite team – the fans recognize class and are not too partial to show it.

I was lucky enough to meet Jim Valvano and did not expect to like him but was completely captivated by his wit and charm. Being a Tar Heel fan, people are always surprised to hear that!
