Raleigh woman faces charges of food stamp, welfare fraud

Published: February 8, 2013

— State welfare officials have filed two felony fraud charges against a Raleigh woman who they said wrongly got more than $36,000 between September 2006 and last month by not disclosing child support she was getting from the state of New Jersey.

Marlene Renee Wilson, 46, of 5009 Whisper Court, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant obtained by the Office of Program Integrity in the state Division of Social Services.

In the warrant, officials charged that Wilson should not have received $35,924 in food stamps and $644 in public assistance.

She was getting money from New Jersey to support four children she had adopted, the warrant said.

An arrest report lists her occupation as being a department manager at a Walmart store.

She was released on a $4,000 bond.
