Local DAR chapter honors good citizens

The Davie Poplar Chapter of the N.C. Daughters of the American Revolution announced its Good Citizen Award winners for 2012-13.

Christine Lee from Carrboro High School, Lauren Shiplett from Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, Alexander Werden from Chapel Hill High School, Michael Arneson from East Chapel Hill High School, Madison McDiarmid from Northwood High School in Pittsboro and Madison Chandler from Orange High School in Hillsborough were honored at a DAR chapter luncheon in December.

The students, all seniors, were selected based on academic achievement and leadership as well as from essays they wrote about citizenship.

Madison was chosen as the Davie Poplar Chapter’s Good Citizen Scholarship winner and will compete at the district level in March.
