Recap: UC Riverside vs. Cal State Fullerton

Sammy Yeager matched a career-high with 30 points as the Cal State Fullerton Titans conquered a road test versus the UC Riverside Highlanders, 79-67, in Big West Conference action at SRC Arena.

Sammy Yeager shot 11-of-17 from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range for Fullerton (12-11, 5-6 Big West), which halted a three-game losing streak. D.J. Seeley was also stellar with 21 points, while Kwame Vaughn chipped in 13 points and six assists for the Titans.

Also putting together a career-night was Chris Patton, who was nearly flawless from the floor (14-of-16) on his way to 36 points for UCR (5-18, 2-9), which has lost five in a row and eight of its last nine. Chris Harriel added 10 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for the home team.

UCR got the game started on the right foot, outshooting Fullerton from the field in the first half, 57.1 percent to 32 percent, as it took a 40-29 lead into intermission.

The Highlanders continued their hot shooting after the break (.500), but the Titans were even better at 65.4 percent. The Titans got back in the game with the help of a 20-5 run early in the second half, and they took the lead for good on a Yeager 3-pointer with 9:20 remaining.

Despite UCR's impressive 54.2 percent field goal shooting night, it was only 4-of-15 from beyond the arc, while Fullerton shot 11-of-31 from 3-point territory.
