CHAPEL HILL — An accident in which a car hit a pedestrian in the center of town shut down Franklin Street for a time Monday evening.
The person was struck at Franklin and Columbia streets at about 6:20 p.m., police said.
The victim, whose age and gender were undisclosed, was taken to UNC Hospitals with injuries that police said did not appear to be life-threatening.
Officers were continuing their investigation of how the accident happened, police said.
