DURHAM — Police investigators have arrested two suspects and are still seeking a third in the shooting of a 16-year-old last month.
The shooting was reported at 7:12 p.m. jan. 23 in the 700 block of Elizabeth Street.
The 16-year-old was on a porch when several teens approached him and an argument took place. The victim was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators arrested Demarkee Rayheem Midgette, 16, of Cathy Drive, and Dontae Lamont Richardson, 17, of Grant Street after a brief foot chase on Cook Road on Tuesday.
Midgette faces one charge of conspiracy to commit an assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and one charge of possession of a handgun by a minor.
Richardson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm within the city limits and possession of a handgun by a minor.
Midgette was placed in Durham County Jail under $50,000 bail. Richardson was jailed under $75,000 bail.
Police are still trying to find Richard Tiberious “R.T.” Bonaparte Jr., 17, of Dakota Street, who is wanted on one charge of conspiracy to commit an assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
A 15-year-old juvenile has also been charged with conspiracy.
