A great ‘Season’
As I read about the transformation of Southern Season (“Southern Season rethinks the shopping experience,” Jan. 27) I thought about our move to Chapel Hill over 30 years ago.
As a native North Carolinian, my husband was adjusting to the move back South. As a former New Yorker, I was having a bit of a hard time. One day my husband came home and announced that he found something that might make my adjustment easier. He gave me directions to a shop in The Shops at Eastgate.
When I walked into Southern Season and saw the display of cheeses and coffee, I thought this Chapel Hill thing might just work out. I’ve been grateful to Michael Barefoot ever since. While I left New York’s Zabar’s behind, my part of heaven had Southern Season. A big thank you to Michael.
