I-40 accident at South Saunders in Raleigh snarls commuter traffic

Published: February 20, 2013

— An accident on westbound Interstate 40 hurt no one about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, but it shut down two of the road’s four lanes and backed up commuter traffic.

Police were working to get all lanes open after a state Department of Transportation Interstate Motorist Assistance Patrol truck was able to push one damaged vehicle to the shoulder of the highway.

The accident happened near the South Saunders Street overpass.
