Charles Albert Waller

Mr. Charles Albert Waller, 78, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Waller, a native of Lenoir County, lived his early life in Kinston. He was the eldest son of A. Forrest and Ruth King Waller who preceded him in death. He attended North Carolina State University and graduated from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson in 1957. He spent all of his career life in the sale and service of farm equipment, first working with L. Harvey & Son Farm Equipment Co. in Kinston. In 1965, he moved his family to Greenville and worked with Allen Implement Company. He later established and operated Waller Tractor Company, representing John Deere farm equipment, and retired in 1986.

Mr. Waller was a lifelong member of Armenia Christian Church in Kinston where he served as deacon, elder, and chairman of the church board for many years. He was also a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge #4 A.F. & A.M. in Kinston and Shriners Sudan Temple in New Bern. Mr. Waller had an interest in helping the visually impaired. He served for many years on the NC Commission for the Blind and also on the Board of Trustees for the Lions Industries for the Blind in Kinston. He was a long-standing member of the Greenville Host Lions Club and served as Governor of District 31-H for Lions Clubs International in 1976-77.

Mr. Waller was particularly dedicated to helping underprivileged and less fortunate children. He enjoyed his 33 years of service as a trustee for the Boys and Girls Homes of N.C. located in Lake Waccamaw. He served from 1980–2013 and was board chair from 1992-94.

From 1980-90, Mr. Waller served as a member of the Pitt County Alcohol Beverage Control Board, becoming Chairman in 1990 and serving until 2005. He also held a one year term as president of the North Carolina Association of A.B.C. Boards in Raleigh.

Mr. Waller is survived by his daughters, Debra Waller of Fayetteville and Kimberly Waller of Suffolk, Va.; the mother of his children, Jane Waller of Greenville; brothers, Bobby Waller and wife Marie, and Freddy Waller and wife Carolyn, all of Kinston; and special companion, Joan Respass of Winterville.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greenville. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Armenia Christian Church, Hwy. 70, Kinston. A private burial will be held at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.
