Published: February 20, 2013

Former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic landed in the quarterfinals, while former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone came up a second-round loser Thursday at the Copa Claro Colsanitas tennis event.

The top-seeded Jankovic blew past wild card, Colombian crowd favorite and 2010 Bogota champion Mariana Duque Marino 6-3, 6-2.

Up next for the Serbian Jankovic will be Romanian Alexandra Cadantu.

Karin Knapp of Italy took down third-seeded Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Dominguez Lino titled here in 2006 and 2011 and was the runner- up in 2005.

Meanwhile, Argentine Paula Ormaechea knocked out the fourth-seeded Italian Schiavone 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) on the red clay at Centro de Alto Rendimiento in a match that was suspended because of rain on Wednesday.

Reigning Bogota champion Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain upended fifth- seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 and the aforementioned Cadantu overcame Croatian qualifier Tereza Mrdeza 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Day 4. The former top-20 player Pennetta was the Bogota champion in 2005 and runner-up in 2006.

Arruabarrena-Vecino beat Russian Alexandra Panova in last year's Bogota finale.

The newest champion will earn $40,000.
