Recap: Gonzaga vs. Santa Clara

Published: February 21, 2013

Elias Harris poured in 17 points to go with nine rebounds on Wednesday, as No. 3 Gonzaga eased past Santa Clara, 85-42, at McCarthey Athletic Center.

Kelly Olynyk followed with 14 points and seven boards for the Bulldogs (26-2, 13-0 WCC), who have won nine straight.

"Outstanding, outstanding effort by our guys, probably the best I have ever seen in this building," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. "Our defense our rebounding, and heck even our offensive execution, I have no complaints there. It was a total game and our guys deserve all the credit."

Brandon Clark led the Broncos (19-9, 7-6) with 14 points in the setback, Santa Clara's third in its last five games.

"They outscored us, out-rebounded us and outplayed us," Santa Clara coach Kerry Keating admitted of Gonzaga. "They solidified their position as one of the best teams in the country."

Santa Clara senior Kevin Foster opened the contest with a jumper, but it was all Gonzaga from there, as the Bulldogs responded with 15 straight points to build a 13-point cushion just over six minutes in.

A Foster jumper with just under seven minutes left made it a 24-9 contest before Gonzaga reeled off 10 straight points to push the lead to 25.

The Bulldogs led, 44-15, at the break and pushed their lead as high as 46 down the stretch as they cruised to victory.
