Richard Wayland Aldrich, 92, passed away on February 20, 2013. He was born in Melrose, Massachusetts and resided in Chapel Hill. Educated in physics and electrical engineering at Columbia and Cornell Universities, Dr. Aldrich worked at MIT’s Radiation Laboratory during WWII, and spent the majority of his career at General Electric’s Electronic Research Laboratories in Liverpool, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, David C. Aldrich (Marilyn) of Vienna, VA and Jeffrey S. Aldrich (Linda) of San Rafael, CA; and four grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10 am at Carolina Meadows, 100 Carolina Meadows, Chapel Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to UNC Hospice program.
