The right decision
Dr. Charles van der Horst’s view on Medicaid expansion (“Shutting the doctor’s door in Tar Heel faces” Feb. 18) is just plain wrong.
I am so sick and tired of career academicians who travel the world, pontificate and give us their “we know what’s best for you” opinions. Google search his name, and you’ll find a picture of him with President Obama ... enough said.
Expanding comprehensive health coverage to all Americans would be wonderful, but we don’t live in Utopia. Our federal government is $16,000,000,000,000 in debt, and Sen. Phil Berger’s letter (“The missing Medicaid facts” Feb. 14) was accurate: North Carolinians will be stuck with the Medicaid expansion when the federal government fails to meet its monetary obligations.
Gov. Pat McCrory and the legislature are doing what we elected them to do – look out for the citizens of the Old North State.
