Joanna Baker Smith, 77, of 119 Sallinger Street, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2013. Joanna was born February 20, 1936 in Durham County to the late Roy D. Baker and Inez Coble Baker. She retired with over 20 years of service as a production worker with Westinghouse.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Monday, February 25, 2013 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.

Burial: Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.

Surviving: daughters, Rosa S. Vasquez (Carlos) of Knightdale, Joanne S. Bolton (Ronnie) of Wendell, Linda L. Smith (Bob) of Youngsville; sister, Dorothy “Gypsy” E. McDaniel of Raleigh; brothers, William J. Baker of Goldsboro, Bruce E. Baker of Raleigh; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Westley Smith, Sr. on March 11, 1986 and her son, Garland Westley Smith, Jr. on August 9, 1984 and a brother, Leroy D. Baker.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory.
