Cary Academy students Trevor Scanlon and Pranay Tankala were selected for this year’s All-District Bands.
Trevor, a sophomore, was selected as first-chair mallet in the High School Symphonic Band, and Pranay, an eighth-grader, was fourth-chair clarinet for the Middle School Symphonic Band.
They had to audition by learning a challenging solo piece, memorizing and playing several major scales with arpeggios and sight-reading a piece of music for the judges.
After two days of rehearsals, Trevor and the High School Symphonic Band performed at Sanderson High School in Raleigh in late January. Pranay performed with the Middle School Symphonic Band earlier this month at Eastern Guilford High School, near Greensboro.
