John Pasco, Jr.

John Pasco, Jr., 94, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013. John was born in Monticello, Florida, on August 11, 1918. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1939. He was stationed in Europe with the Army in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Pasco Sr. and Katherine Merrill Pasco; his brother, H. Merrill Pasco; and his beloved wife, Nell G. Pasco.

He is survived by his three sons and their wives, John Pasco (Mary), James Gilbert Pasco (Sherri) and Barton Cheves Pasco (Bettie); and his daughter, Katherine Merrill Pasco. He is also survived by six grandchildren, William Watkins Pasco, Virginia Courtney Pasco Miles, James Denham Pasco, Barton Cheves Pasco Jr., Mary Elizabeth Gilbert Pasco and Samuel Tanner Pasco.

After graduating VMI, John moved to Richmond, where he worked for Equitable Life. He was later transferred to Petersburg, Va., and to Raleigh, N.C., and returned to Richmond in 1967 to serve as Agency Manager until his retirement in 1982. John was a CLU, a member of Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the board at Westminster Canterbury and was very involved in the communities where he lived. He gave freely of his time even after he retired, working with Meals on Wheels.

A memorial visitation will be held 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue. Burial will be private.
