Ana Maria Kennedy, 61, of Durham died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at home. Ana was the daughter of the late Antonio Beamud and Anita Piera Beamud.

Born in Queens, New York, she earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Spanish from the State University of New York at Albany and a Ph.D. in Golden Age Literature from Duke University. She taught Spanish for almost 20 years at North Carolina State University, winning numerous awards for excellence in teaching.

Ana is survived by her husband, Christopher Kennedy, her daughter, Marion Kennedy and fiancé, Bryan Amos of Durham; her son, Joseph Kennedy of Atlanta; her sister, Cristina Beamud of Boston; her brother, Anthony Beamud of Valley Stream, NY.

Friends may visit from 4:00-6:00pm Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
