Joy Young Boydston, 61, of Louisburg, passed away Saturday after a short courageous battle with cancer.

Joy was a daughter of the late Bill and Evelyn Baker Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark S. Boydston and her sister, Sherri Murtagh.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bunn Memorial Gardens.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Amanda Boydston of Henderson; sons, John Boydston of Raleigh; Paul Boydston and his wife, Melissa of Spring Hope; sisters, Diane Batchelor of Louisburg; Rhonda Cox of Raleigh; aunt and uncle, Carolyn and Gene Mullen of Bunn; 8 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
