DURHAM — A Durham Public Schools bus dragged down a power pole by its guide wire Tuesday near the intersection of Mathison and Lakeland streets, bringing down live power lines across the bus, according to a Durham Public Schools release

The bus was carrying students from Burton and Harris Elementary schools home at the time of the accident.

No students were harmed. As a precaution, they were held on the bus until Duke Power cut the power to the line.

All students have either taken a backup bus home or are awaiting pickup from their parents at Burton Elementary.
