Mrs. Zelda Heiko died peacefully at Sunrise Living of Cary on February 26, 2013. She was 94 years young. Zelda was the beloved daughter of Rose and Max Haber, sister to Doris and the late Julie Haber of Boynton Beach, FL. She was a loving and devoted mother to Rosalind Heiko and David Horowitz of Cary, NC and Karen Heiko-Wong and Dennis Wong of Quincy, MA. No one could have been a prouder grandmother. “Bubbie” Zelda adored her grandchildren Matthew and Katie Horowitz, Ariel Horowitz, Elizabeth Wong and Louis Wong.
Zelda was a master teacher for 43 years with the Glen Cove School System on Long Island, NY. She was an avid reader, walker, a highly intelligent, intellectually curious and wonderfully generous lady of great integrity. She charmed everyone she met.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.
