Saltwater

Oregon Inlet

The only fish biting in the area are blu efin tuna, with many boats coming in early due to rough conditions. Contact: Oregon Inlet Fishing Center 252-441-6301, www.oregon-inlet.com.

Buxton/Hatteras

Inshore boats report se a mullet and puppy drum are biting. S kates have been reported by surf anglers. Contact: Red Drum Tackle 252-995-5414, hatterasisland.com; offshore news, Oden’s Dock 252-986-2555, odensdock.com; Teach’s Lair Marina 252-986-2460.

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

The only reports coming in are r e d drum, which are still being caught in the sound. Contact: EJW Outdoors at 252-247-4725; ncwaterman.com; or ncoif.com.

Topsail Island

Surf anglers reported speckled trout are still biting along with a good amount of flounder in the inlets. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887, eastcoastsports.com.

Southport/Sunset Beach

In the surf, trout and red drum are still biting. Offshore anglers that have been out have found success with wahoo . Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221; yeahrightcharters.com; or oifishingcenter.com.

Freshwater

Falls Lake

L argemouth bass are biting medium-diving crankbaits and jerkbaits. Crappie are biting minnows and jigs at medium depths. Catfish are biting at medium depths on night crawlers. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 251.86, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085; wmi.org.

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass have been caught on crankbaits and jigs at medium depths. Striped bass are still biting spoons around medium depths. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 299.95, full pool 320. Contact: Bobcats Bait and Tackle 434-374-8381; kerrlake.com.
