Laura Faith Snider Maxwell

Laura Faith Snider Maxwell, 93, went home to be with her Lord on February 26, 2013. She died of complications from metastatic melanoma.

She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on February 28, 1919, and in 1951 moved to Haines City, Florida where she raised her children. After her husband, Loye Maxwell, died in 2007 Mrs. Maxwell moved to Fearrington Village, Pittsboro, NC to be near her family. She was under the care of UNC Hospice and died peacefully in her own bed in her home

Mrs. Maxwell was active in the life of her community in Haines City, FL as well as that of First United Methodist Church in Haines City.

She was the inspiring matriarch of a large family which she and Loye shepherded by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Joseph Loye Maxwell. She is remembered with love by her son, Michael Allison Maxwell and his wife Wendy of Chapel Hill, NC; and her daughter Terrance Anne Maxwell Swanson of Pittsboro, NC and ex-husband, John of Atlanta, GA. She is the grandmother of Michael Allison Maxwell, Jr. of San Pablo, CA; Paul David Maxwell and his wife Sarah of Durham, NC; Joseph Hathaway Maxwell and wife Julie of Durham, NC; and Kristofor Jon Swanson of London, England. She is the great-grandmother of Laura Faith Maxwell of Carrboro, NC; Hope Elizabeth Maxwell of Charlotte, NC; Benjamin Albert Maxwell, Charlotte Elizabeth Maxwell, and Harper Doran Maxwell all of Durham, NC. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Rebekkah Tove Swanson. She leaves behind one sister, Louise Snider Dagenhardt of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Paul Allison Snider of Nashville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 1st at Salem Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 2nd at Christ United Methodist Church, Southern Village, Chapel Hill, NC.
