Colin Borchert scored a team-high 21 points as the Mississippi State Bulldogs held on to defeat the Ole Miss Rebels, 73-67, in an SEC tilt at Humphrey Coliseum.
Gavin Ware recorded 12 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (8-20, 3-13 SEC), followed by Jalen Steele and Roquez Johnson who added 10 points apiece as Mississippi State snapped a 13 game-losing streak.
For the Rebels (21-8, 10-6) Murphy Holloway contributed a double-double with game highs of 22 points and 19 rebounds. Marshall Henderson put up 16 points, but shot only 4-of-19 from the floor, as Ole Miss had a two-game winning streak come to an end.
In the first half Ole Miss made 11-of-29 from the floor and 4-of-5 free throws. MSU knocked down 10-of-23 field goal attempts and 11-of-19 foul shots, en route to a 34-30 advantage at the break.
Ole Miss was held to 14-of-44 from the floor, including 2-of-20 beyond the arc in the second half. MSU knocked down 10-of-25 from the floor and 16-of-18 free throws as it captured the six-point victory.
MSU survived despite turning the ball over 19 times on the day.
