Party system
in shambles
Our two-party system is in trouble.
On many important issues, the Democrats and Republicans are unable to pass legislation supported by a majority of the electorate on issues such as health care, gun control and full employment.
Therefore, we no longer have a true democracy of the people and by the people.
Part of the problem is that unlimited money can be spent on lobbying and buying votes, compromising both parties and giving us a government by and for the corporations or moneyed interests.
Unless these interests are controlled, either by a constitutional amendment or by a grass roots uprising, the current political morass will continue to grow, and we will continue to suffer.
