DURHAM — A man was seriously hurt early Monday when he drove his SUV into a beauty salon in the Five Points area of downtown, according to police.
Police say Javier Villaneuva Ziranda Francisco, 39, of Durham was driving his Chevrolet Blazer the wrong way on Morris Street when it crossed West Main Street and crashed into the Hairizon Beauty Salon at 341 W. Main St., doing “major damage to the business.”
Francisco was taken to a hospital. He has been charged with driving while impaired, driving while his license was revoked and going the wrong way on a one-way street.
The crash happened at about 12:50 a.m. Police say the Blazer was involved in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Liberty Street and Miami Boulevard about 10 minutes earlier.
