Virginia Nutt Leonard

Virginia Nutt Leonard, 63, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was born on September 7, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joseph Randolph Nutt, Jr., and Sarah Howell East.

Virginia was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and beloved friend to many. Her presence was unmistakable; she was blessed with courage, grace and a quiet dignity which radiated through her constant smile. Virginia was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church of Raleigh and had been employed as a Registered Representative with First Citizens Investor Services of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held at 7 o'clock Thursday evening March 7, 2013 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 4523 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, with Father Jay James officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Ross J. Leonard of Wake Forest; a daughter, Virginia B. Shaffer of Wake Forest; two sisters, Janet Lembke of Staunton, Virginia, and Sarah Jane Hovsepian of West Boylston, Massachusetts; two brothers, Joseph Randolph Nutt III, of Staunton, Virginia, and Robert H. Nutt of Staunton, Virginia; and one granddaughter, Jessica Shaffer of Wake Forest.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Virginia N. Leonard's name to the American Cancer Society at 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27615.
