Mrs. Ruby Tew Herring, age 97, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday at the Benson Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Royal. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Herring was born May 22, 1915 in Sampson County to the late Preston and Carrie Sinclair Tew. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W. Baggett Herring; sisters, Othal Simpson and Ilee Stovall; and a brother, Oscar Tew. Mrs. Herring worked many years as a sales clerk at Woodall’s in Benson and was a member of Benson Baptist Church.

Surviving include son, Larry Herring of Benson; granddaughter & husband, Abby H. & Jack C. Bradford of Marshallberg; great granddaughters, Haleigh Bradford and Stella Katherine Bradford; and sister, Janie Medlin of Roseboro.

Family will receive friends at the Benson Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM Friday prior to the service.
