Nonsensical stance

I cannot understand the reasoning of Gov. Pat McCrory wanting not to accept Medicaid expansion. That funding will just go to other states, and we will help pay for it anyway. Carol Steckel, his state Medicaid director, must be the most insensitive state employee the governor has hired. Her statement in your March 6 article that if she gave 700,000 uninsured people a Medicaid card they would not get healthier is ignorance.

With Medicaid expansion, the state wouldn’t have to pay anything for three years, giving us time to straighten out the way North Carolina manages Medicaid. Steckel’s answer was to overwhelm county and state health agencies with uninsured people so North Carolinians can pay the tab. This makes no sense.
