John Edward ”Jack” Manning died Thursday at Hospice of Wake County after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home at 7209 Glenwood Ave. Friday at 7pm.

Born on January 7, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, he moved to Raleigh in 1974. A 1959 graduate of Florida State University, Jack served in the Air Force as a radioman during the Korean War.

He is survived by his brother Dennis of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter Sharon (Mike) Sciarappa of Atlanta, GA; sons Mike (Becky)and Kevin (Leslie) of Raleigh; and six grandchildren--Travis, Cameron, Hannah, Vince, Ashley and Ryan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Wake County.
