Chris Eversley scored a game-high 19 points as the Cal Poly Mustangs came back to defeat the UC Riverside Highlanders, 68-62, in Big West Conference play at Mott Gym.
Reese Morgan contributed 16 points off the bench for the Mustangs (15-12, 11-6 Big West). Brian Bennett added 10 points and four rebounds as Cal Poly moved to a four-game winning streak.
For the Highlanders (6-24, 3-14), Chris Patton recorded a team-high 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Taylor Johns chipped in 14 points and Chris Harriel put up 10 points as UCR fell to a four-game losing skid.
In the first half, Cal Poly was held to 42.3 percent shooting. UCR nailed 69.2 percent of its field goal tries en route to the 40-26 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Cal Poly came back, holding UCR to a mere 28 percent from the floor. The Mustangs knocked down 57.7 percent including 7-of-10 from beyond the arc to rally from the win.
Cal Poly knocked down 8-of-13 beyond the arc while holding UCR to a mere 5- of-18 from long-range on the night.
