Recap: Detroit vs. NY Mets

Tyler Collins hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the eighth and Max Scherzer had six strikeouts in his second start of the spring as the Detroit Tigers downed the New York Mets, 3-2, on Friday.

Scherzer walked three but didn't surrender a hit in 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Matt Tuiasosopo went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and Avisail Garcia scored the tying run on an error in the seventh after leading off the inning with a single.

Dillon Gee allowed a run on one hit and three walks over four innings of work in the start for New York. Jordany Valdespin hit a solo homer and Zach Lutz had an RBI single in defeat.
