Taxed to fairness
Regarding your March 3 editorial “Death and taxes”: Your stated view of estate taxes was replete with the underlying theme that all property belongs to the state, thus anything the state allows an individual to keep is generous.
Me, I believe if a person busts his hump for his entire life, he has the right to dispose of his property as he sees fit.
As your view takes root in this country, the institution that has raised more people from dire poverty and ill health will slowly expire. At least all of our citizens will be equally poor, and that will be fair.
