Focus on clean energy
I oppose fracking because we cannot 100 percent guarantee the safety of our water supply and environment should an accident caused by human error or a natural disaster happen.
Even while using best practices, we cannot always undo the harm we cause. I think fracking is immoral and backward-thinking; it’s a new technique for an old way of thinking – digging up the earth to find energy and causing destruction in the process.
My husband I and recently bought solar panels for our home because they will provide us with about half of our energy needs for the next 20 to 25 years. It was not a financially easy purchase for us, but we will save money and generate power without causing harm. Whom are we to destroy our environment for our convenience?
We should instead commit to energy practices that are sustainable and that don’t cause potentially irreparable problems for future generations. Our precious water supply and environment are such valuable resources, and they should be fiercely protected.
