Mrs. Allene Barefoot Jones, age 96, of Benson, died Thursday at her residence. Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Sunday at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Withrow and Rev. Doug Abel. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born August 17, 1916 in Johnston County to the late Robert M. and Estella Morgan Barefoot. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Felton Jones; daughters, Charlotte J. Herring and Ernestine J. Matthews; son, R. F. Jones, Jr.; grandson, Woody McLamb; sister, Ruby Beasley; brother, Theodore Barefoot; and sons-in-law, Avery Lee McLamb and Stewart Herring. Mrs. Jones was a cook at Charlie’s Carousel in Benson, a homemaker, a farmer, and a member of Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church.
She is survived by Daughters & Son-in-law, Vernice McLamb and Josephine “Jo” & Lewis Tripp, all of Benson; Son & Daughter-in-law, A. J. & Debbie Jones of Four Oaks; Daughter-in-law, Barbara Jones of Dunn; Sister, Corene Ennis of Benson; 27 Grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren; and 13 Great Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday and other times at the home of A. J. & Debbie Jones, 3029 Lakewood Road, Four Oaks.
Flowers are welcomed; however, the family suggests that memorials be made Stone’s Creek Building Fund, c/o Phyllis Barefoot, 64 Wood’s Crossroads Road, Benson, NC 27504.
