Vicky Chesnutt

Viola (“Vicky”) M. Chesnutt, 88, of Raleigh, died Friday morning February 22, 2013 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Woodside, NY, where she had resided for the past year and a half.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday March 16 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2723 Clark Avenue in Raleigh.

Vicky was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ida Manty of Worcester, MA, where she grew up. After high school Vicky attended Meredith College in Raleigh and realized “she had always been a southerner at heart.” While at Meredith she met her husband, Raymond Chesnutt, then attending NC State University. They were wed in 1948 and remained happily married until Ray’s death in 2010. She was a member of the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association, a supporter of many charities, and a cherished wife and mother.

Vicky is survived by her daughter, Judy Chesnutt; her son-in-law, Fred Murhammer; and many wonderful cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Snowflake Animal Rescue, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Raleigh, Meredith College or the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association.
