George Davis Foster, 93, went to his heavenly home early Saturday morning. He was the seventh of eight children and the last surviving child of Wade Hampton Foster Sr. and Pattie Lou Gilliam Foster. He was a lifelong farmer, who loved the outdoors, his family and his neighbors.
George was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church where in August 1945 he was ordained as a deacon at the age of 25. George also served as a trustee of the church into his late eighties and taught the Young Boys Sunday School Class.
Preceded in death by his sisters Mozelle Foster, Mabel Foster, Lucille Wood, and Julia Smith; brothers Sterling Foster, Joe Foster, and Wade Foster; nephews Stanley Foster and Hamp Foster.
George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Frances Wilder Foster, daughters Sheila Foster Allen (Bobby) and Georgette Foster Baker (Archie); grandchildren Sabrina Baker Cox (Jason), Meagan Allen, and Kim Baker; a great-grandson Levi Cox; nieces Gwen Davis and Nell Gupton; nephews Dr. Jim Foster, Rex Foster, and John Weaver; and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Wells.
Funeral services will be held Eleven o’clock on Monday March 11, 2013 at Sandy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Story, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
