Harriet Ferez of East Windham, NY died peacefully in her home in Clayton, NC on Saturday March 9th, exactly a week before her 84th birthday.
She is survived by her son and her daughter-in-law Dr. Nicholas and Kimberly Ferez, her two grandchildren James and Benjamin, and her dear friends and caretakers Lisa and Electric Graham, all of whom were by her side during her final hours.
Harriet was best known and loved for her straight forward outgoing personality, her out spoken honest demeanor, and the love and devotion for her family and friends. Harriet loved to laugh and have fun, she was at her best when surrounded by a group of friends, or strangers, who felt the same way. If they didn't, she would drag them along, always including everyone in the fun or calling those out who didn't join in. She was truly loved by those who knew her well, and always made an immediate and lasting impression on those who she had just met. She grew up tough on the streets of Harlem but combined this toughness with the ability to laugh, wisecrack and endear herself to those whose lives she touched.
Harriet was pre-deceased by those she loved and missed the most; her father and mother, Tony and Helen Psihoules; her dear brother George and her one and only true love James "Jimmy" Ferez. She will be missed by those whom she leaves behind, but will be welcomed with open arms by those who have waited to reunite with her and share her free and proud spirit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption in Windham, NY or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
