RALEIGH — A woman from Dunn won the $1 million top prize in a N.C. Education Lottery scratch-off game last week, though she will take home less than half of that.
Dianna Sills chose to take her prize as a $600,000 lump sum, rather than in $50,000 annual payments over 20 years. After taxes, she will receive $408,006.
Sills’ brother bought the $10 Ruby Red 7’s ticket for her at the Kangaroo Express on Long Branch Road in Dunn last Wednesday. The lottery announced her prize this morning.
The state lottery began the Ruby Red 7’s game in early January. At least two of the game’s four $1 million top prizes have now been won.
Meanwhile, lottery officials have not yet announced the winner of a $2 million prize in the multi-state Powerball game last week. The winning ticket was sold at the Food Lion at 9101 Leesville Road in North Raleigh.
