— Funeral services will be held Saturday for a homeless woman struck by a car and killed on New Bern Avenue last week.

The ceremony for Anita Bridges, 53, will be held at 1 p.m. at Rush Metropolitan AME Zion Church on Edenton Street downtown. Bridges died March 6 after being hit by a driver who could not see her in the road at night, according to police.

C.E. Willie Funeral and Cremation Services of Sanford will handle the service. Police had earlier reported her body was at the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office.
