Job-moving firms
The recent news reports about job-creating corporations should more accurately describe them as job-moving corporations. Many of the jobs, including most of the highest-paying ones, are filled by the people who already have them.
If state and local governments give tax advantages and other incentives to these corporations, these perks should be based on how many jobs are available to people not formerly employed by the company. It is no wonder that the North Carolina unemployment rate is high when we are paying corporations to “create” jobs that are already filled, just being moved.
