Abuse was pedophilia

The March 3 letter “Stop belittling pope” was a rather fair analysis of the media’s strong anti-Catholic bias in the eyes of this ex-Catholic. However, I wholeheartedly disagree that the Catholic clergy was “infiltrated by homosexuals.”

Sexual orientation has no relevance to this sex abuse scandal nor any other. The Catholic bishops and cardinals were bent on relocating known pedophiles to faraway parishes for decades – if not longer – rather than reporting the abuse to police and defrocking the accused.

The only thing worse than abusing a child is knowingly and willingly allowing it to happen and refusing to take appropriate action. Child sexual abuse should never be viewed as heterosexual or homosexual. An adult sexually abusing a child is pedophilia, regardless of the sex of either perpetrator or victim.
