Raye Parrish Miklas

Judy “Raye” Parrish Miklas, 67, died at the SECU Hospice House on March 14, 2013, as a result of brain cancer. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Raeford and Macy Stephenson Parrish and was the wife of Jack Miklas. Raye attended NC State University and was a graduate of UNC-Greensboro. She taught school in Harnett and Johnston Counties and in Northern Virginia. Raye is survived by her two sisters, Joy Parrish Johnson and husband, Rodney, and Ginger Parrish, all of Elizabeth City. She is also survived by her nieces, Jessica Johnson and Wendy Johnson Plante and husband Justin, a great-nephew, and a great-niece. Raye was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and at one time, taught Sunday School at Trinity. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, March 16 at Trinity Baptist Church in Angier. Raye’s family will receive friends immediately after the memorial service in the church fellowship hall and, at other times, at the Parrish Home Place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SECU Hospice House, P.O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
